Halal food: a growing Industry
The hallal market is booming in France, where over 5 million Muslims live and a vast majority eat according to Islamic rules. As a result, restaurants and supermarkets are eager to tap into a market estimated at 5.5 billion euros. But the spread of hallal is not welcomed by all, as demonstrated by the controversy sparked by the decision of the fast-food chain Quick to open a hallal-only restaurant.
